Assisted Recovery
Pre-fishing students Nick, Sebastian, Simon and Anders undertaking their sea safety training at Fiskeriskolen in Denmark.
Being able to fully secure an overboard person at a distance from the vessel is one of the huge advantages that recovery by QUIKSLING offers and tests proved that assisted recovery by QUIKSLING is a reliable procedure for recovery certainty.
This recovery method can work in very heavy sea swell: long after other most other unconscious recovery systems have been rendered useless by rise and fall difficulty and delay.
The Viking GALE immersion suit with its vertical buoyancy pack ensures that an upright rescuer swimmer protrudes high out of the water which is ideal for carrying out the simple in-water activity required to place an unconscious person into the QUIKSLING and secure them. The suit provides 6 hours insulation in Arctic seas and is perfect for rescue swimming.
WE RECOMMEND THE VIKING GALE IMMERSION SUIT, OR SIMILAR, FOR THE ASSISTED RECOVERY PROCESS BECAUSE OF:
1. Fast donning when an overboard person needs urgent assistance - loose fit zip up. No life jacket needed.
2. Polar Code thermal rating which keeps the rescue swimmer thermally safe while providing assistance in Arctic waters.
3. integrated buoyancy is on the back, ensuring a 15cm upper body freeboard for easier and faster back stroke swimming.
4. Solid boot soles which enable climbing back aboard on the sharp ladder bars on a ladderwell, weather permitting.
5. Built-in recovery strop which enables line-connected in-water assistance and secure recovery of the rescue swimmer.
